Art Psychotherapy & Clinical Supervision
Art psychotherapy is a gentle form of psychotherapy where artmaking and talking come together to promote self-expression, self-understanding and healing. For children, feelings, thoughts and emotional experiences can be closely linked to behavioural and interpersonal patterns. By creating and expressing through art-making, play and reflection, children can come to better understand themselves and their peers and learn to look after feelings and thoughts. For adults, art therapy can help facilitate access to parts of ourselves and our personal story that may feel stuck or locked away. Artmaking and reflection can help to create space for our inner experiences to be discovered so they may be integrated and healed. With the right support, we can better understand our own behaviours, how we engage with ourselves, others and our environments.
I am a state registered Art Psychotherapist with over a decade of clinical experience working with people of all ages. I see clients in both Tring, Hertfordshire and in Central London.I supervise qualified therapists and work with creative therapist trainees at all stages of their training.I provide a safe and contained space for my clients to engage in their therapeutic process through art-making, play or talking. My approach is client-led with an emphasis on helping you explore feelings and thoughts presently outside of awareness that may relate to unresolved experiences or issues.I have supported young people and adults struggling with grief & bereavement, anxiety & depression, self-harm and suicidality, eating disorders and body dysmorphia, cognitive and age-related losses, those with special educational needs, ASD, ADHD/ADD and other mental health problems.Alongside my private practice, I have worked within a number of primary and secondary educational settings in a clinical and advisory role; for the charity sector and the National Health Service.
